As an independent, coeducational institution of specialized higher learning, ASA Institute is dedicated to providing qualified applicants with the college education necessary to be at the forefront of the technological revolution by equipping each student with skill-specific expertise, a firm academic foundation, and the professional standards required for employment in today's rapidly changing business world.
As a degree-granting college whose programs are registered by the New York State Education Department, ASA Institute of Business and Computer Technology specializes in offering career-oriented programs relevant to the needs, interests, and aspirations of our varied constituencies. The institute began its first class in July 1985 and operated as Advanced Software Analysis until November 1994. At that time ASA Institute assumed ownership of the Brooklyn location of Advanced Software Analysis and became a separate institution. Since its modest beginning with a class of twelve students, the Institute's enrollment has grown to over 1,300 students.
At its inception, the institution was established to address what was perceived to be a severe shortage of qualified computer programmers, the likelihood of continued expansion in the field, and the insufficiency of appropriate educational programs in the city. During our early years of operation, our mission remained highly specialized: to train students in mainframe computer programming for gainful employment in the computer and data processing industry.
